The Dancing Monkeys
A Prince had some Monkeys which were trained to dance.
ஓர் இளவரசனிடம் நடனமாடப் பழக்கிய சில குரங்குகள் இருந்தன.
As the monkeys were great mimics, they danced like the other courtiers. They were decked up in fine ornaments, masks and attire to appear like real dancers.
பிறரைப் போல பாவனை செய்வதில் குரங்குகள் தேர்ந்தவை ஆதலால் அவை மற்ற அவையோரைப் போலவே நடனம் ஆடின. நல்ல நகைகள், முகமூடிகள் மற்றும் ஆடைகளை அணிந்துகொண்டு அவை உண்மையான நாட்டியக் காரர்களைப் போலவே தோற்றம் அளித்தன.
The performances were a great success untile one day a courtier decided to expose the truth. He threw a handful of nuts upon the stage while the monkeys were dancing.
அவற்றின் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நல்ல வெற்றிபெற்றன. ஒருநாள் அரசவையில் இருந்த ஒருவர் உண்மையைக் காண்பித்து விடத் தீர்மானித்தார். குரங்குகள் ஆடிக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது மேடைமேல் கைநிறையக் கடலையை வீசி எறிந்தார்.
The sight of the nuts excited the monkeys and they forgot their dancing. True to their nature they discarded their finery and started fighting with one another for the nuts.
கடலையைப் பார்த்ததும் குரங்குகள் ஆவல் மிகுதியாகி, நடனமாடுவதை மறந்தன. அவை தமது இயல்புக்கு ஏற்றபடி, ஆடையணிகளை எறிந்துவிட்டு, கடலைக்காக ஒன்றோடொன்று சண்டையிடத் தொடங்கின.
